Our Vision

'Life is an experience of its own, meant to be a happy one, in its own rite'.

The Philosophy of happiness is an open ended challenge. It appears to be perceptual, and is dependent upon on many variables, all of which are cultivated in our everyday realities.

We all are born to be happy. We all have potentials, meanings and purposes. We all are interactively connected bodies in this universe. Yet, sometimes there is one thing; known/unknown that is holding us back from moving forward happily into the future and feeling bodily connected. Call this: external and environmental barriers, and /or inner obstruction, this is a given life experience and identifying the source of obstruction starts with encountering, and facing the challenge.

Art Therapy is a process of healing and of consciously letting-go of the known/unknown painful experiences; to objectifying the experience; to give it a life of its own and let it be outside in this world - creating a given gift  of an injured soul to the greater universe.

Vancouver Art Studio Therapy Center is committed to establish alternative approaches dealing with the extraordinary reality in order to be able to cope with everyday life. We believe that art making is about making sense of the truth of self. Thus, our approach is to sustaining vitality by amplifying the creative force; Art-Making-Play in rekindling mind and body.

Art Therapy might not be the only possible way in healing souls, however it is the most effective and immediate approach in rekindling and aligning one’s mind and body in the experience of an alternative way dealing with inner complexity.

Our Mission

Vancouver Art Studio Therapy Center is committed to creating an environment for participants that fosters mastery in self-realization, confidence and developing skills to face any challenge that life presents them. With a grounding in true happiness, the VAST vision is to guide the participant to self-integration and vastness through arts creative process.

Vast is committed to providing client-centered art therapy sessions through the use of art materials for self-expression and reflection in the presence of a trained art therapist. Clients who are referred to an art therapist do not need to have any previous experience or skill in art as the art therapist is not primarily concerned with making an aesthetic or diagnostic assessment of the client’s image. The overall aim of art therapy sessions is to enable a client to effect changes and growth on a personal level through their guided use of art materials in a safe and facilitating environment.

At VAST, we offer the therapeutic use of art making within a professional relationship. We work from a place of strength and with resources to connect people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living, as well as people who seek personal development for their own creativity and personal resource.  By creating and then reflecting on the art products and the processes, people can increase awareness of self and others cope with symptoms of stress and trauma experiences; enhance cognitive abilities; and enjoy the life-affirming pleasure of making art.

We offer art therapeutic interventions within clinical setting and referral visits for the personal development of everyone.

Our World Is Our Experiences

Vancouver Art Studio Therapy Center has evolved from the former M.I Art Studio founded in 2014 by Mehri Imani.

Forwarding the practice from studio art to art therapy room, was a drive which not only is aimed in extending the field of art practices, but also in extending its direction. This move was a response to an artistic inquiry regarding the 'functionality' of arts; what art is about, and how art can be applied and  integrated into everyday realities for the benefits of individuals and communities.

Vancouver Art Studio Therapy Center is set up to make art therapy accessible to everyone in a unique creative art studio environment. We are passionate about arts and its immediate effect in healing and in the reshaping of everyday life experiences. We are committed to providing an excellent and caring service.

Vancouver Art Studio Therapy Center provides art therapy services to the public and private sectors in a tailored art therapy studio environment.

Individual Art Therapy

Individual art therapy, one-on-one consultation, allows a focused approach to your mental health needs.  It usually takes place in a series of weekly, or bi/weekly sessions with the same art therapist. The sessions are client-led, no expectations, no judgement, and no experience with art or art materials is required. You will be encouraged to use the art materials in a creative way.

You do not have to be ‘good at art’ to benefit from art therapy. The art objects produced will elicit conversations that are helpful to the psychotherapeutic process.

You may self-refer to art therapy if you are self-funded, however if you would like to be subsidized, we suggest you make contact with your GP and request a professional referral.

Children Art Therapy

Many adults have difficulties expressing themselves with words. In the case of a child who may be going through a difficult time, e.g.  experiencing a family divorce or trauma, bullying or in finding sexual identity, verbal expressions is even more challenging. Art therapy is usually a very effective way of working with children who may be going through such emotional stresses.

Additionally Art Therapy is a recommended approach for children with clinical diagnosis eg. specific learning difficulties, ADHD, Autism, depression etc.
